Microinterview: Andrew Stancek

Andrew Stancek’s 96 word microfiction, “The Orchard Will Bloom”, will appear in the first issue of The Centifictionist (Vol. 1, Issue 1, Spring/Summer 2020). Andrew graciously answered a few brief questions for us. Read the interview below.

Andrew Stancek

1. What inspired the story “The Orchard Will Bloom”?

I have been intrigued by the story of the assassination of Reinhard Heydrich, the Butcher of Prague, for many years. It reverberates with me and I knew I wanted to deal with a sliver of it when I began thinking of submitting to The Centifictionist.

2. What inspires you and your writing?

I find inspiration around me all the time: looking outside, reading poetry and fiction, listening to news, it all serves as a prompt.

3. What advice do you have for microfiction writers?

Write, write, write, read, read, read, repeat. Never give up. No matter how much rejection you experience, what despair you feel, keep writing, keep reading.

I am on Facebook and am eager to talk to writers about writing. My email is andrewstancek@gmail.com.
